A man in his 50s has died following a fatal workplace incident at a wastewater plant in Co Tipperary.

The incident occurred at a water treatment facility in Roscrea, Co Tipperary at approximately 12.30pm on Wednesday (May 29).

A man, aged in his 50s, was pronounced dead at the scene, with Gardaí saying that the HSA and local coroner have been notified.

‘Gardaí are investigating the death of a man in his 50s following a workplace incident at a site in Roscrea, Co Tipperary shortly after 12:30pm this afternoon, 29th May 2024,’ a statement from Gardaí told Extra.ie.

‘The HSA and local Coroner have been notified. The deceased has been removed to UHL where a post-mortem will be conducted. Enquires are ongoing.’
